Ba Duan Jin Experience Classes at Lycée Saint-Paul - Lens

LE

On December 1st 2025, Chinese teacher of the Confucius Institute of Artois Qiu Shuzhen was invited to Lycée Saint-Paul in Lens to conduct two Chinese Ba Duan Jin classes. The event lasted two hours and was attended by 26 students, including first-year high school students and junior BTS students who were taking Chinese as an elective course.

Ms. Qiu first used a PowerPoint presentation to briefly introduce the origins, key points of the movements, and the life philosophy embodied in the Ba Duan Jin. During the presentation, Ms. Qiu talked with the students about topics such as sports, hobbies, and dietary habits. Afterwards, the students practiced the various movements of the Ba Duan Jin while reciting Chinese numbers, following Ms. Qiu’s instructions. After experiencing all eight movements, everyone practiced the Ba Duan Jin together to the music. The students participated enthusiastically and learned with great skill. After the experience, everyone said they felt relaxed and had also practiced Chinese numerals. Afterwards, Ms. Qiu sent the video link of Ba Duan Jin to the local Chinese teacher and encouraged everyone to continue practicing.

The Ba Duan Jin cultural experience classes successfully concluded at 6 PM. The event was well-received by the participating students and local Chinese language teachers, who all expressed their intention to continue learning and understanding Chinese language and culture.
