On March 14, 2026, Xu Meng, a Chinese language teacher from the Confucius Institute of Artois, was invited to participate in the Open Day organized by Lycée Saint-Paul in Lens. The four-hour event attracted more than 300 students and parents.

At 8:30 a.m., accompanied by Chinese teacher Wang Siping from Saint-Paul High School, Mr. Xu arrived at the event venue. The classroom was decorated with a variety of Chinese cultural elements, including lanterns, Spring Festival couplets, paper-cuttings, and student-made posters and artworks themed around Chinese culture, creating a vivid and engaging cultural atmosphere for visitors.

During the event, Mr. Xu was mainly responsible for presenting traditional Chinese Tai Chi. He performed the 18 Essential Forms of Chen-style Tai Chi and introduced its basic principles and cultural significance while answering questions from students and parents. The demonstration attracted considerable interest from attendees.

In addition, Mr. Xu and Ms. Wang jointly organized hands-on activities in Chinese paper-cutting and ink-blowing painting, guiding students in experiencing traditional Chinese artistic creation. The interactive sessions generated strong enthusiasm among participants.

A particularly memorable moment occurred when Mr. Xu met two primary school students who had previously taken part in cultural activities organized by the Confucius Institute in Salomé. The students recalled their earlier experience with enthusiasm and took part in the ink-blowing painting activity once again.
