On 6 December 2025, Xu Meng, a Chinese teacher at the Confucius Institute of Artois, was invited to attend the Open Day at Saint Jean High School in Douai. His participation aimed to support enrolment efforts for the high school-level Chinese elective programme. The event commenced at 10:00 am and lasted three hours, attracting approximately one hundred students and parents.
The event centred on an ink-blowing painting workshop, complemented by panda paper-folding and paper-cutting activities. Mr. Xu first displayed three completed ink-blowing paintings to introduce its characteristics, explaining its fundamental steps and key points. During the interactive session, he invited interested students to create their own ink-blowing paintings. Following his demonstrations, he guided and assisted them in producing distinctive, imaginative pieces.
In addition, using a PowerPoint presentation, Mr. Xu taught some students how to create panda paper-foldings and paper-cuttings. They eventually expressed great delight and satisfaction with their handcrafted creations.
This Open Day event was warmly received by local students and parents, further stimulating their interest in Chinese culture and language. It has played a positive role in advancing the school's ongoing development of Chinese education.
